Well, hey, y’all!

Things at Iris have been pretty quiet for the past month or two, as I’ve taken a bit of a break to get settled into my new job, which I absolutely adore!

We’ve done a little shooting here and there– a very sweet 50th anniversary celebration up in Washington, D.C. and helping shoot a couple of gorgeous weddings!

As we take this little break, I’m prepping for my and Chris’s wedding, which is very very quickly approaching! I’m SO excited to share a photo from our engagement session with The Schultzes. We LOVE them– they are such talented photographers and so fun to be with! As you’ll see from the session, we shared plenty of laughter and could be our (nerdy) selves in front of the camera!

My Favorite Places – Elsewhere Collaborative

You’ve read about some of my favorite places in the Czech Republic and Croatia… now it’s time for some local love!

I am smitten with Greensboro’s art community. It’s so vibrant and diverse. One of my favorite places downtown is Elsewhere Collaborative, a former thrift store turned living museum. When the owner of the thrift store passed away, the space was left, filled to the brim, with all kinds of stuff. Her grandson decided a few years ago to transform the space into an artist collaborative and declared nothing for sale. Resident artists come in from all over the country and create things from the items in the museum. I love that it’s completely unique and has its own special story. Here’s some fun instagram photos I took when Chris, Rachel and I visited earlier this week. You can see some of their projects on their website, here.

I was quite sad that the kitten in residence was out. We all know how I feel about tiny fuzzy animals.

Link love.

Today I want to share a web gem I recently stumbled upon (and adore), Vagabond Bond. A collaborative of creatives who love adventure. I’m so inspired by the work here, and it makes me miss Europe. And it makes me want to plan an immediate road trip.

I love travel and adventure, and I think that singer/songwriter/vagabondbond member Amy Seeley says it best here: “the feel of the air … the streets … stories held like treasures in all these unfamiliar spaces . & my own story unfolding through the place i’m in . so much observing to be had . notebook & pen in hand, always .”

Yes. Nothing compares to the feeling you have when you step off a train in a place you’ve never been, with no agenda in mind. No idea of the layout of the city, you just start walking. Anywhere. Taking it in. Every place has stories. And your own story evolves, becomes more elaborate and thrilling with every new destination.
