Our trip to the woods

Living in Greensboro has perks. One of these perks is that it’s more proximal to the mountains than Raleigh. Plus we have a mini-mountain that’s even closer. So you can get our hiking/climbing/outdoorsy fix pretty easily.

So Chris and I (and our puppy, Mouse, who you’ll meet shortly) ventured to Pilot Mountain last weekend for some outdoorsy fun. It was ultra foggy and ultra springtimey. Ultra perfect.

I swear I didn’t even touch these photos. So. Much. Green. I love this time of year. And chlorophyll.

See what I mean about the fog? Also, meet Mouse!! The cutest half-bat, half-bunny rabbit, half-German Shepherd around.

My newest obsession

Pinterest. So much pretty in one place, I might just die.

It’s a fantastic site to catalog your favorite products, photos, visual inspiration, etc. And it helps you keep track of the source. I’m one to drag eight thousand photos to my desktop and forget where they came from– and this solves that problem (and de-clutters my desktop)!

Five minutes on Pinterest and I feel totally inspired and rejuvenated! LOVE. IT.

It’s currently by invitation only– you can request an invite from Pinterest, but I have five to share, so just comment if you want one!

(Footnote: I was just reminded of this quote… from a classic. “I know you can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed, but can you just be… whelmed?”)

In which we decoupage a table

Chris and I have been working over the course of a couple of weeks to decoupage a lovely large craft/game table that he built. (Yes, blog reader. He built a big awesome table. What a man!)

We chose vintage books from one of our favorite antique stores in Greensboro to decoupage the table. They’re varied in content, style and page size, which gave for some nice depth and variety. It was a fun project to accomplish together, and it was fun to flip through these books and choose the pages to use. I must admit that it felt a bit sacrilegious to tear pages out of A.A. Milne’s “Winnie the Pooh,” but now it’s immortalized (or such) on our furniture forevermore!

Mood Boards

There’s a sweet and delicate balance of being a bride and starting a wedding photography business. Trying to find my niche in the wedding industry + trying to figure out what my fiance and I want for our own wedding! It’s kind of overwhelming and kind of lovely. Granted, Chris and I won’t be tying the knot till 2012, but sometimes I forget that I’m going to be a bride, too! It’s all a whirlwind of lenses and lace and love.

Today I got to have a little bit of fun on the “I’m a bride!” side on BHLDN. Their Mood Boards launched last week, and it’s so… therapeutic to be able to arrange and combine so much prettiness! Le sigh… (also, I SO want that ‘Oui’ ring below!)

Off to read more of Jose Villa’s new book! Yippee!

Kacey & Matt – Engaged!

Shooting Matt and Kacey’s engagement session was super special. Of course, it was incredibly exciting to photograph a couple who are just so fun and exude so much love for each other. But it was even sweeter because Kacey has been my friend since middle school. She’s got a super-witty and hilarious sense of humor and such a beautiful, loving personality. And, as you can see from the photos below, she looks like a supermodel. Which is awesome. Seeing her with her wonderful fiance, Matt, and their dog, Moe, was so sweet because you can tell they’re going to be an amazing family. Matt and Kacey are so sweetly affectionate and so in love. They complement each other perfectly. I absolutely adored being able to photograph them in the places where their relationship began!

Oh, and did I mention there was graffiti involved? Seriously… Matt and Kacey are the best. Enjoy!
